The police arrested the comic after they intervened, but he continued to vociferate and try to organize the demonstrators. The demonstrators were seen carrying large signs in the videos that have since gone viral online, calling for members of Parliament to become involved in the contentious issue
While demonstrating, the demonstrators—the bulk of whom were women dressed in sackcloth—accused the lawmakers of treason and said they intended to sign the Finance bill into law. In an attempt to interact with the MPs, the protesters threw branches down the main road along Parliament as an additional outlet for their annoyance.
The comedian was held in a room inside the Parliament Buildings after being arrested, and this is where the authorities started questioning him.
The comedian has previously been arrested once. Omondi was also detained in February of last year for organizing demonstrations outside Parliament Buildings against the exorbitant cost of living.
