Alfred Keter Reveals Being Interrogated on Relationship with Gachagua & Uhuru After Arrest
After being arrested on Sunday, former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter revealed on Monday that he was questioned about his connections to former president Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking as he made his appearance at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters, Keter disclosed that he was questioned by the police and asked if he was involved in the trafficking of weapons to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as they suspected him of being.
“I was questioned about my relationship with the current Deputy President and my relationship with former President Uhuru Kenyatta when I was arrested,” Keter said.
Keter, nevertheless, insisted that his arrest was a result of his strong stance against the nationwide rallies against the Finance Bill.
He believed that the detention was a ploy of intimidation because of his recent, harsh criticism of the government.

“Let us abide by the law, but please do not scare us into staying silent,” he continued.
“I was questioned about my relationship with the current Deputy President and my relationship with former President Uhuru Kenyatta when I was arrested,” stated Keter.
Keter argued, however, that his arrest was a direct result of his vocal opposition to the countrywide demonstrations against the Finance Bill.
Because of his recent, severe criticism of the government, he thought the imprisonment was a ploy for intimidation.
“Let us abide by the law, but please do not scare us into staying silent,” he went on.
After service, the politician and his family arrived.
Later on Sunday night, though, the DCI verified the arrest, saying that the former MP had been under investigation for weapons trafficking and inciting violence.
In a roundtable interview with reporters on Sunday night, President William Ruto confirmed the arrest in further detail, saying that Keter had not responded to a summons from law enforcement.
