Joyce Gituro, a former anchor of the Radio Citizen show, took the oath of office as Chief Officer of the Machakos County Government on Monday.
Gituro was sworn in alongside Francis Munyambu and Dr. Juliana Ndunge, two additional top officers, according to a statement released by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti.
Gituro will now lead the Department of Public Communications and E-government as its Chief Officer.
While Munyambu took office as the Chief Officer of the Department of Inspectorate and Emergency Services, Ndunge was assigned to the Department of Sewerage, Sanitation, and Waste Management.

“I have today witnessed the swearing-in into office 3 Chief Officers following their vetting and approval by the County Assembly of Machakos,” said Ndeti.
Gituro brings with her a plethora of communication skills from her nearly two decades of service in radio in the media industry.
She began working for Royal Media Services, the organization that owns Citizen TV and Radio Citizen, in 2004. From then until 2018, she hosted a radio program.
“From 2004 to 2011, I was employed at Citizen. I received a promotion in 2011. In a 2023 interview with Jeff Kuria, she recalled that she would only be performing one event on Sunday.
“As I consider it now, I could never have imagined getting up to preach. I’m grateful that it has helped me get to know God better.”
Later on, she moved to Media Max, where she managed six radio stations as a brand manager.
A year later, she was fired by the station.
The former radio host focused on running her own media company and other investments for a number of years.
