Man Utd’s Harry Maguire Injury Updates
Harry Maguire, an England defender, will be out for around three weeks due to a muscle issue, Manchester United announced on Sunday.
Maguire’s injury won’t stop him from representing England at the Euros this summer, but it will keep him out of United’s next four Premier League games and could make him questionable for May 25’s FA Cup final against Manchester City.
As a backup to Maguire, United had midfielder Casemiro playing because of injuries to Willy Kambwala, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof.
The center defender might miss United’s final three Premier League games of the season against Arsenal, Newcastle, and Brighton in addition to their Monday trip to Crystal Palace.
Maguire’s availability for England at the European Championship, which begins on June 14, is unaffected, and he may be back in time for the FA Cup final on May 25 against Manchester City.
Erik ten Hag, the under-fire United manager, suffered another setback in his selection process with Maguire’s absence. Last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Burnley required him to start Brazil midfielder Casemiro in central defense.
That was because, even before the Maguire setback, United had a long list of absentees that reached double digits.
Ten Hag hinted on Thursday that Jonny Evans might be back for the Palace match, but he will undoubtedly be without Raphael Varane (muscle), Lisandro Martinez (calf), and Victor Lindelof (hamstring).
Following this weekend’s triumphs against Chelsea and Newcastle, United has fallen to eighth place in the Premier League. To improve their chances of finishing in the top six, United must return to winning ways at Palace.
