Mbappe Announces His Departure From PSG
Kylian Mbappe of France has announced that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current campaign.
Mbappe, 25, announced in a video posted on his external social media sites.
“I’ve always said that I would speak with you when the time comes,” Mbappe said.
“This is my final season at Paris Saint-Germain. The trip will come to an end in a few weeks, and I will not be extending.”
Mbappe’s PSG contract expires in June, and according to a report from BBC Sport in February, he has reached an agreement to sign with Real Madrid for the summer.
With 255 goals, the World Cup champion is PSG’s all-time top scorer. On Sunday at 20:00 BST, he will play his final home game at the Parc des Princes against Toulouse in Ligue 1.
Following that, PSG travels to Nice (15 May) and Metz (19 May) before hosting Lyon in the French Cup final on May 25 at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille.
Born in Paris, Mbappe paid £165.7 million to join PSG from Monaco in August 2017. He claimed the team assisted in his “growth as a man as well as his growth as a player.”
“I had the opportunity and great honour to be a member of the largest French club, one of the best in the world,” he continued, expressing a range of emotions over the years.
“It made it possible for me to come here, experience my first-ever game in a high-pressure club, and, of course, develop as a player by playing with some of the greatest players in history.
It’s challenging, and I never imagined that making the announcement would be so challenging. But after seven years, I believe I needed this—a fresh challenge.”
