My Relationship With Ruto Is Excellent – Rigathi Gachagua Insists
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua emphasized on Sunday that his relationship with President William Ruto remains strong, reassuring congregants in Uasin Gishu of their excellent rapport.
Addressing speculation of discord, Gachagua affirmed Ruto’s trust in him, highlighting the significant workload and collaboration within the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“We work together harmoniously, respecting each other. President Ruto has entrusted me with various responsibilities, demonstrating our unity and commitment to our duties,” Gachagua asserted.
Encouraging communal harmony in Uasing Gishu county, Gachagua urged residents to maintain peaceful coexistence.
His remarks followed concerns raised regarding purported attempts by certain individuals close to Ruto to sow division between him and the President.
Expressing frustration, Gachagua warned against undermining his relationship with Ruto and cautioned against interference in Mt. Kenya’s political landscape.
“The issue lies with a few regional leaders with proximity to the President who are disrupting our local politics, misleading people to plan for 2032,” he stated.
Highlighting the support extended to President Ruto from the Mt. Kenya region during his presidential campaign, Gachagua urged Ruto’s allies not to overstep boundaries.
“Some individuals have become arrogant, thinking they can dictate leadership in our region. We will not tolerate such interference; respect must be mutual,” Gachagua emphasized.
Addressing Rift Valley leaders, Gachagua advised them to refrain from meddling in Mt. Kenya’s political affairs, advocating for a focus on national development over premature politicking.
“Do not impose your will on Mt. Kenya’s politics and leadership. Plan your own strategies. When William Ruto retires in 10 years, we won’t dictate your plans; you will decide. Our politics are distinct and challenging,” Gachagua concluded.
