Requirements to Apply for the Higher Education Financing (HEF)
Higher education financing in Kenya involves various mechanisms aimed at enabling students to access tertiary education. The government, through bodies like the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), offers loans and scholarships to eligible students. These loans cover tuition fees, accommodation, and other related expenses.
Additionally, private institutions and banks provide financial assistance through student loans and grants. However, challenges such as limited funding, strict eligibility criteria, and high demand often pose barriers to accessing higher education financing.
Efforts are ongoing to improve accessibility and affordability, ensuring that all qualified students have the opportunity to pursue tertiary education regardless of financial constraints.
