President William Ruto has been forewarned by Ugenya MP David Ochieng that service delivery will be his biggest foe in Nyanza in 2027, not Azimio leader Raila Odinga or his ODM party.
He has informed President Ruto that the Kenya Kwanza administration’s inability to fulfill its development commitments will be his biggest threat in Nyanza, adding that the people there want their demands to be met by the government.
Speaking on Sunday during the funeral of Eliud Owalo, the ICT Cabinet Secretary, at his elder brother Jackson Nyunja Owalo’s funeral in Rarieda, Ochieng said it was past due for President Ruto to make sure the area received a fair portion of the national cake.
“The administration that complies with these people’s demands is the adversary. Give us our fair share of roads if you are constructing them in the Rift Valley and Central Kenya. Give us our fair share when hiring individuals for the army; that’s how you’ll win over people,” the MP remarked.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance member from Ugenya, MP, bemoaned that the electorate has not been kind to them because the government has not followed through on any of the development pledges that the president gave during his tour of the Nyanza region last year.
In order to reassure their constituents that they are collaborating with the administration, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda implored the government to take into account including some of those promising projects in the 2024–2025 budget estimates.
CS Education But, Ezekiel Machogu and Eliud Owalo, his ICT colleague, urged patience, stating that the government’s top priority is making sure that all projects are carried out.
“There’s no need to be concerned. CS Machogu stated, “If we work together, we will help the government enable tangible progress in the region. If you look at the initiatives we are implementing in the next financial year, the projects are captured in the budget.
Attending the funeral as well, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei reassured Kenyans that the president will follow through on all of his instructions and pledges, but he also begged them to recognize the financial challenges their country faces.
